Vengeance on Varos: Disc 1
Season 22
Serial 2
No. Episodes: 2

Review
The second story of the season focuses on 'video nasties' which was very topical in the UK in the 1980's. After the first story, the Chameleon circuit seems broken again. The camouflage that was all the hoo-ha in the first story is just forgotten here with everything back to normal with only the Police Box skin in use as always... unless you watch the extended version of the story on disk 3 of this collection which explains this issue.
The story has Jason Connery in it which isn't a plus as he's completely wooden like most of the other actors, who all come across as very am-dram... sigh...
The violence of the acid bath, the lusting after torture, blinding people, or transforming them into animals or other forms is done in a way that's like a sledgehammer cracking a nut.
There's some wonderfully bad acting from Colin Baker too. He's just hammy and again one tone. He also makes jokes when people have just died which is really nauseating.
The serial has aged better than I had thought and the themes it brings are admirable, but the, urm, execution leaves a lot to be desired.
