So, to the extended version... The disk cover is appropriate as it's a picture of Mel screaming. We begin with the Tardis under attack which makes more sense than the originally transmitted opening. The regeneration scene is the one with the updated effects.

The second disk with its extended scenes make the story a little bit more understandable, so I would recommend watching this over the orignal transmission. It still does not make up for the awfulness of it all.
