The Invisible Enemy

Season 15

Serial 2

No. Episodes: 4

Review

"Contact has been made!"... The second serial of Season 15 is set on the Saturnian moon Titan and on a medical asteroid. It's a complete departure from the look and feel of Horror of Fang Rock, and will set the tone for the rest of the season in terms of production values.

This story also sees the return of the Main Console Room, which we have not seen for the past two seasons. In this serial, the time rotar doesn't always work, or work in the way in which it's meant to. The background Tardis hum sounds quite harsh. The usual humming background sound returns in The Sun Makers.

It's actually not a bad story, although it's let down by some not so special effects. some bad practical effects (for example, you can see the crack in the wall where it will fall before K-9 zaps the wall) and... oh, my God, the man in the prawn costume as the Swarm leader. The prawn is revealed in the part three cliffhanger. It's meant to be scary, but it's actually laughable.

The serial is also notable for the introduction of K-9 who would travel with the Doctor until Season 18's Warriors' Gate.

This serial has the option to view it with updated Special Effects which is well advised!
