Review
The penultimate story of the season is a good one. It also sees the end of the Black Guardian trilogy. Unfortunately, the trilogy is a bit of a damp squib, but it ends in a subtle, thoughtful manner.
The Eternals are an interesting concept, and creepy which gives the story an edge. The race in space using what looks like real sailing ships is a good concept as well. You also get sitcom stars Keith Barron and Linda Baron, and oh, Leee John from the 80's band Imagination! They all do pretty well actually.
Turlough's bulgy eyes are quite funny at times and reminds me of the other 80's act Roger DeCourcey and Nookie Bear!
The story is engaging and interesting so stay with it as the ending is mature and thoughtful.
There is an option to have updated special effects on the original story, but for the gold, go for the special DVD edit that's also included on the disk. This is a feature length edition of the story with new effects (different to the updated SFX included in the episodic version of Enlightenment) making Fiona Cummings' (director) vision come truly to life.
Overall this is a great story with a great sense of creepy then other worldliness which is quite different to your usual Who fare.
